According to Encyclopedia Britannica, a peasant is any member of a class of persons who till the soil as small land owners or as agricultural labourers. The term "peasant" originally referred to small scale agriculturalists in Europe in historic times, however, many other societies both past and present document a peasant class.
Our economy has suffered so many ill prepared families in this country and abroad. I believe we all know at least one family impacted by the "Great Recession" and the fallout is continuing right before our eyes. For all intensive purposes the media and commercials would have us believe that our economy is business as usual. For those of us who function on one income, have lost homes, savings, retirement plans and more there is a great need for us to draw on our community, and if we can, help our community to sustain during these times.
It is my hope to raise awareness and combine our knowledge and experiences by means of a simple "peasant life" to get by on, thrive on and then pass it on.
Peace!
